8 Reasons why it's perfectly okay to be single this holiday season

As the weather cools down, and the holiday season approaches, those who would normally be single find themselves desiring to be “cuffed” or involved in a relationship. Not this girl!

1. You are allowed to have cereal for dinner and pizza for breakfast

Some nights, I just want pop-tarts and milk for dinner. Some mornings, I crave left-over pizza. This is one of the biggest reasons I love single life. I can eat what I want, when I want, and not answer any judgmental questions.

2. You don’t have a “side” of the bed

bed
My queen-sized bed is mine, unless I choose to share it. I tend to sleep on the side closest to my bedroom door, but most nights, I spread out, arms and legs tangled in the sheets, one end to the other, and I use all of the pillows. Hooray for NOT sharing my bed with a snoring, gassy man!

3. You can smooch as you choose when you are single

There’s nothing wrong with kissing every guy you like, unless of course, you’re married or in a relationship. I love single life because I can flirt with or smooch whomever I want.

4. Flirting is fun!

flirt
And by the way, flirting is fun! I love the thrill of the chase, making eye contact and fluttering my lashes at a handsome stranger on the train, in line at the shop, wherever! It’s fun to see how many smiles and appreciative stares I can get on an afternoon when I’m feeling on top of my game.

5. Far less Facebook drama

I can’t even begin to tell you how much Facebook (and real-life) drama there is when you’re in a couple. Your ex’s. His ex’s. Your mutual friends. All of your own little lover’s quarrels. I’m so loving single life because there’s so much less drama!

6. More time with friends

We all need our quality girl time. You get to enjoy it without feeling guilty of leaving your poor man at home.

7. It’s okay to skip a day of shaving when you are single

Or two, or three, or hey why not a week?  Listen, if I’m extra-sleepy, or just feeling lazy, I don’t have to take the extra ten minutes in the morning to shave my legs.

8. You don’t have to rely on someone else for your happiness and sense of self-worth

By far the most important. You don't need a man, strut your stuff and show us what you're made of sistah!

Keep AZO handy during cuffing season! You wouldn’t want a UTI to ruin your new relationship, or get in the way of your fun single life, during the winter months.

My boyfriend is pretty cool so I can eat pizza for breakfast and cereal (or ice cream) for dinner anyway. On your last point, I storngly believe that you should never rely on anyone but yourself for your happiness and sense of self-worth. Basing your worth on someone else's opinion of you is one of the easiest ways to lose confidence and get hurt. No matter how much a person loves you, they will let you down from time to time, and if your entire worth lies in their opinion of you, it's the difference between being a little upset and being completely crushed.

I am in a relationship and I definitely see how being single can be so awesome! But I have to admit, single or not, I'd be eating pizza for breakfast and cereal for dinner anyway!!

I love this post!! I'm single as of a few weeks ago, and I love how much freedom I have. I'm able to hang out with my friends more and do whatever I want. :)

Ha! Too funny but you know what I think that your last point applies to all the married people too!

Most of those (minus the bed and kissing ones) apply after the dating phase once you're married ;)
In fact, my husband prefers cereal at night and pizza for breakfast haha!
And really, you should NEVER depend on someone else for your happiness and self worth. If you can't love yourself, how can someone else?

Oh these reasons don't just go for the holiday season...They apply year round, baby! I haven't been single in a really long time, but these are all awesome reasons that I'd tell to any of my single friends!
Great post!

nice post but you make it look like if being in a couple was horrible...
I love my bf, he is really cool...and except for flirting and kissing (which i only do with him) i ate what i want when i want to, skipping shaving is not a problem, if i dont have mroe time with friends basically is because i work too much and he is my bestie and the rest of my friends best friends live in another country, we dont have drama neither fbk or real and since we are both pretty small and our bed is really big we dont have problems of space...

I get it. You should celebrate being single. I know I did when I was! And if I wasn't married, I would be happy being single! Just because I make myself happy. What was the point of this? Anyways, that I was just as happy being single. That was my point! -Jessica L

totally agree with your post. point #8, however, still applies even if you are in a relationship/married.

I loveeee what you said here! It's all so true. And as a married woman, I'm really grateful I get to do most of these things! As a matter of fact, cereal and pop tarts sound REALLY good for dinner right now!
