As many of you will agree, the cost of make up and beauty products has definitely increased in price. Whilst there are more products on the market and sure there are more cheaper options than there has ever been, the premium products seem to be increasing.

Fantastic marketing by companies has convinced many women, me included that spending more can often equate to being more beautiful. Even though I am aware that the cheaper lipstick and more expensive one are probably manufactured in the same place with the same ingredients I still decide to spend more.

Celebrity influencers have now starting to create their own product lines, the Kardashians are the leaders in this market.

With the beauty industry worth a reported £150 billion companies are spending more to get their products in front of consumers. The use of influencers on social media channels has increased so much so that some are reportedly making in excess of £2 million per year from promoting beauty products. Celebrity influencers have seen the money to be made and are now starting to create their own product lines, the Kardashians are the leaders in this market.

Flux Magazine created a fantastic article about the cost of beauty with some cool statistics on costs related to the industry. Did you know that the average cost of a haircut in the United Kingdom is £23 whilst women’s hair colour treatment reaches £37.
