All eyes were on the Champions League draw last week for this season’s competition. For the first time in history, England will have five teams (Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United) and Scotland one (Celtic) competing to be crowned the Champions of Europe.

The football ticket compare website FanSeats have analysed the air miles that each team will have to put in for the group stages and Premier League Champions Chelsea will have to travel the most miles.

–          Chelsea will travel the most miles to play a single fixture (vs Qarabag)

–          Qarabag will clock up the most air miles in the competition (Over 15,000).

–          Glasgow Celtic will travel the least out of the British teams. (3,800)

  1. Glasgow Celtic – Total Air Miles: 3,820

Scottish Champions Celtic will only have to travel 3820 miles in total for their matches in Germany, France and Belgium.

Group B: Bayern Munich, PSG, Anderlecht, Celtic

  1. Tottenham Hotspur – Total Air Miles: 6,222

Based at Wembley Stadium for the second season running, Spurs will be trying to qualify from the most difficult group in the competition traveling to Spain, Germany and Cyprus.

Group H: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Spurs, APOEL

  1. Manchester City– Total Air Miles: 6,476

Manchester City will be fully expected to qualify with ease in from this group when they travel to Ukraine, Italy and the Netherlands. Having one of the most expensive teams in the competition, the pressure for the Citizens to make the next stage is high.

Group F: Shakhtar Donetsk, Manchester City, Napoli, Feyenoord

  1. Manchester UnitedTotal Air Miles: 6,496

Europa League Champions Manchester United will travel over 6000 miles in the group stage with the most clocked up when they travel to Russian League runners up CSKA Moscow.

Group A: Benfica, Manchester United, Basel, CSKA Moscow

  1. Liverpool – Total Air Miles: 7,358

Under Jurgen Klopp Liverpool will aim to turn Anfield into a fortress on European nights, however with trips to Slovenia and Moscow they will travel more than most. The longest Journey for the reds is Moscow against Russian Champions Spartak Moscow.

Another website with football tickets available is TicketReview.net which offers competitive pricing and a good selection for Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

Group E: Spartak Moscow, Sevilla, Liverpool, Maribor

1.Chelsea – Total Air Miles: 8,290

Whilst Madrid and Rome are relatively short distances, the match against Qarabag in Baku, Azerbaijan is the longest distance with 2419 miles one way.  This is the first time in the Champions League for the Champions of Azerbaijan and their task will be made even more difficult with the amount of miles they will travel for their games. Over 15,000 Miles, over twice as many miles as any other club.

Group C: Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Roma, Qarabag

We doubt the distances are likely to make a difference in the results of matches but it is definitely worth thinking about, especially for the long distance away games.
